There is something so uniquely inspirational about Hope Gangloff’s illustration–in the way that a good lost afternoon traipsing around the old gritty parts of New York City on a perfectly humid and drizzly day is inspiring to me. She uses photographs of friends to create these amazing edgy worlds and fearless artistic characters that I often fear are on the brink of extinction in our fair Duane Reade laden city.  But alas, her illustrations give one hope. My Scorpio sister, Dominique Camacho turned me on to her work at the Susan Inglett gallery on the first day that the Sun went into Scorpio this year and I’ve been mesmerized by the deep midnight sky hues in her paintings and illustrations ever since. ~Sherene
